ICEYE has emerged as a strategic force in space-based intelligence. In its latest milestone, the company secured an ~$11 million investment led by Vinci, the venture capital arm of Poland’s national development bank, BGK. This follows a landmark $227 million contract signed earlier this year with Poland’s Ministry of National Defence to deliver up to six radar satellites under the MikroSAR programme.
Founded in 2014, ICEYE operates the world’s largest commercial synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite constellation. Its spacecraft provide all-weather, day-and-night imaging capabilities, making them invaluable across both commercial and defence applications.
The company’s momentum is undeniable. These announcements are just a glimpse of the broader traction ICEYE is generating as it scales globally and helps define the future of dual-use space infrastructure.
As geopolitical risks rise and global alliances shift, European governments are accelerating efforts to build sovereign intelligence capabilities. ICEYE’s radar satellites are ideally positioned to meet these needs, providing persistent, real-time data from space that supports both defence and disaster resilience.
The company gained global attention for tracking Russian military movements in 2022. It has since seen rising demand from European governments seeking to secure independent space-based surveillance infrastructure.
ICEYE is one of the clearest examples of dual-use innovation in our portfolio. It serves both defence and civil markets with the same core technology, making it a resilient, scalable infrastructure provider.
Our support reflects our conviction that space is the next frontier of sovereign infrastructure.
Rafał Modrzewski, CEO and co-founder of ICEYE: “We are delighted that BGK recognises the importance of investing in space technologies, whose role in global security and the economy is constantly growing. New Space companies like ICEYE, thanks to their dynamism and innovation, are radically reshaping the space industry.”
ICEYE’s trajectory reflects broader European ambitions to take greater ownership of space infrastructure. With strong commercial growth, public sector contracts, and backing from leading investors, ICEYE is well positioned to become a cornerstone of Europe’s defence capabilities.
Seraphim remains committed to supporting ICEYE as it scales production, expands internationally, and continues building space-based capabilities with both commercial and strategic impact.
