HawkEye 360 uses space-based RF to locate NOAA transmitter

HawkEye 360 successfully used its satellites to geolocate a hidden environmental transmitter that was broadcasting for just 1.9 seconds on a narrow channel. The identification enabled NOAA to verify, remove and reassign the uplink position, restoring critical environmental data collection capabilities. In the process, the operation also uncovered additional dormant transmitters, creating an opportunity to refurbish and redeploy them for future environmental monitoring missions.
